Refund policy

This Return & Refund Policy applies to all products purchased from Halt and Fill (the "Studio"), operated by Halt and Fill LLC.

The "Made-to-Order" Model

At Halt and Fill, we operate an intentional, zero-waste manufacturing studio. We do not maintain a pre-manufactured inventory. Every piece—from our Sculpted Vases to our Dimensional Art—is individually manufactured on-demand once your order is confirmed.

All Sales are Final

Because our items are manufactured specifically for you, we do not accept returns or exchanges for "change of mind," color preference, or sizing errors. By placing an order, you acknowledge that your purchase is a commission for a custom manufacturing run and is therefore Final Sale across our entire collection.

  • Special Note on Lighting: For our 3D-printed lamps, this Final Sale policy is strictly maintained to ensure the integrity of electrical components. By purchasing, you further acknowledge and agree to our Electrical Safety Disclaimer (requiring LED bulbs only). Damage resulting from the use of prohibited heat-generating bulbs is considered misuse and is not eligible for replacement.

Cancellations

Production typically begins shortly after an order is received. Cancellations are only accepted within 12 hours of purchase. Once the printing process has been initiated on our machines, the order is considered final and cannot be refunded.

Damaged or Defective Items

While we do not accept standard returns, we stand behind our craft. If your item arrives with a manufacturing defect or was damaged during its journey to you:

  1. Notify the Studio: Email us at returns@haltandfill.com within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Electronic & Structural Inspection: All lamps are electronically tested and hand-inspected before leaving our San Diego lab. If your lamp fails to power on or shows structural damage upon arrival, do not attempt to use it.
  3. Submit Documentation: Please include your order number and 2–3 high-resolution photos of the issue, including the original packaging.
  4. Resolution: Upon verification, we will prioritize a complimentary replacement print for you at no additional cost.

Note: Please do not send items back to our administrative mailing address. All authorized replacements are handled digitally via our photo-verification process; we simply ask that you recycle the original defective piece locally or donate it to a maker space.

Responsible Material Stewardship (CA SB 343 Disclosure)

Our products are crafted from high-grade PLA and PETG bio-polymers. While these materials are technically thermoplastic, they are not currently accepted by standard curbside recycling programs in most jurisdictions, including San Diego County.

To responsibly retire your piece:

  • Do not place in curbside blue bins, as 3D-printed geometry can contaminate municipal recycling streams.
  • Upcycle: Our geometric forms are designed for longevity; we encourage repurposing old pieces as secondary planters or organizers.
  • Industrial Recycling: We recommend specialized 3D-recycling partners like Printerior or TerraCycle, which are equipped to industrially process these materials.
